Frequently asked questions

What is Six Feet Grounded?

Six Feet Grounded is the equine-assisted coaching practice of Dr. Sarah DeParis.

Humans have two feet, and horses have four. When these two come together, each with their limbs grounded firmly in the present moment, something intangible and powerful can happen.

What is Six Feet Grounded NOT?

Six Feet Grounded is not therapy. We do not focus on the past, but rather use a forward-facing lens and feedback from our equine partners to work towards our goals. Although Dr. DeParis is a medical doctor, she does not provide any medical services, make diagnoses, or prescribe medications. There is no riding or traditional horsemanship involved.

How can Six Feet Grounded help me?

If you are struggling with uncertainty, a major life transition, burnout, low self-esteem, or just generally feeling lost, horses can help you reconnect with the innate wisdom present in your own body. They can help guide you to the knowledge that is already within you but may not be immediately accessible. The world—and all of its of stress, cell phones, email, road rage, meetings, miscommunications, and setbacks—can sometimes get in the way of our truth. Horses can help bring us back to what is at our core.

Who is it for?

If you are reading this, and feel a pang of YES, this is me, if you feel inexplicably drawn to horses, or if you are in transition and in need of guidance, then this could very well be for you. We work with people in all walks of life. No prior horse experience is required.

We have particular expertise in working with healthcare professionals and intimately understand the unique struggles they face.

What does a session look like?

We work with individuals and groups, and with horses, of course. There is no riding or traditional “horsemanship” involved. Rather, we share space with these magnificent animals as equal partners and receive feedback (from the horses) and coaching (from humans) that can help us towards our goals.

How do I sign up?
